History:
11 year old, male neutered mixed breed dog. Weight loss despite decent appetite (6 to 7 lb in 6 weeks). Slightly lethargic. Not pu/pd. Painful and stiff on the hind end. Uncertain of benefit of NSAID.
Alb.=2.1, Glob.=4.4 Chemistries otherwise WNL. CBC WNL. U/A unremarkable except sp. gr. 1.003, no protein. Not painful to palpation of rib cage.

Findings:
The cardiac silhouette and pulmonary vasculature are normal.
There is an aggressive mass lesion which appears to be originating from the left 6th or 7th rib. The mass is causing both bone destruction and proliferation of the rib and has grown into the region of the thoracic cavity.
There are at least 3 ill-defined pulmonary soft tissue opacities superimposed over the cranial thorax on the lateral view which may represent metastasis but can't be seen on the VD view.
Diagnosis: chondrosarcoma
